How much deposit do you need for an investment property?

In Australia many borrowers, whether home owners or investors typically save a deposit of around 20%. Whilst some lenders are reluctant to lend to an investor unless they have a 20% deposit,  it’s definitely possible to buy an investment property with a 10% deposit. You could go lower, but this typically reduces your loan options and with a deposit under 20% you will have additional costs such as mortgage insurance.
